The earliest inspiration for what would later become the Oswego Music Hall of Fame, Inc. can be traced back to 1990, when Nancy Spereno helped coordinate a presentation during HarborFest recognizing several local musicians with keys to the city. It was a heartfelt early celebration of Oswego County’s musical talent and helped nurture the idea that local musicians deserved ongoing recognition.
In 2015, community member Dan Batchelor brought the idea forward again, helping renew interest in celebrating Oswego’s musicians.
These early moments, together with the kindness and encouragement of many contributors, helped shape what would grow into the Oswego Music Hall of Fame (OMHOF) — now an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit devoted to celebrating our county’s musical heritage and supporting its next generation of musicians.
The Oswego Music Hall of Fame, Inc. is dedicated to honoring exceptional Oswego County musicians and supporting the next generation of local talent through our annual music scholarship.
Each year, we celebrate outstanding contributors to our county’s musical heritage and provide a scholarship to a deserving Oswego County high school student pursuing music in college.
The Oswego Music Hall of Fame, Inc. is committed to helping young musicians grow. Through our Keep the Music Playing initiative, we support Oswego County music teachers, students, and school programs in practical and meaningful ways.
We’ve been able to assist with private lesson opportunities, provide classroom instruments and music materials, and help teachers meet small but important needs that enrich their students’ musical experiences.
Our support may look a bit different from year to year, but the heart of it never changes: encouraging a love of music in Oswego County’s children and giving them the opportunity to learn, play, and discover their talents.

The Oswego Music Hall of Fame, Inc. is supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who work year-round to make our mission possible. Their time, talent, and commitment help us honor musicians, support students, and strengthen music in Oswego County.
